The -R is a heavy, almost growling sound that is harsh, but somehow smooth at the same time. The tongue is super flexed and pulled back with the tip NOT touching anything. The result is voiced with power and depth.
From the outside, the lips can be seen accentuating this sound by pushing the lips forward in a kissing or sucking pose. This could be the most challenging letter for most foreigners. Remember to prepare AND extend this sound. While natives can do it easily, you most likely need to see it, imagine it, prepare it, and finish it in its entirety. Extend by preparing and finishing the sound.
